Rochelle Labiosa (rlabiosa@usgs.gov) is a biological oceanographer who began work as a postdoc at the USGS in 2007. She has a BS degree in earth and environmental sciences from Wesleyan University and a PhD in Oceanography from Stanford (2007). Rochelle's doctorate research focused on modeling phytoplankton bloom formation and the interplay between ecological and physical dynamics in the Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea. Her postdoc reseach applies tools of satellite remote sensing and 3D ecosystem modeling to phytoplankton formation in the San Francisco Bay, with special interest in discovering the source of recent changes in Bay bloom dynamics.
