Restoration Project site and surrounding area

Vegetation is red, non-vegetated areas
including mudflats are light, and water is dark. The Petaluma River Tidal
Marsh Demonstration Project was started over a year ago by breaching the
levee separating it from the Petaluma River in two places and allowing natural
sedimentation to take place. The Leonard Ranch Site is a proposed restoration
project.

Location of meteorological ('met')
and hydrological ('wet') instruments at the Sonoma Baylands
site

The levee and current- modifying peninsulas
are shown as wide, orange lines. The met station sits approximately 40 m
bayward of the levee, which should be sufficient for northerly winds to
straighten out after crossing the levee. The wet station is attached to
a small bridge over the tidal creek flowing from the weir to the bay.
